Game summary-Week 6 vs Mt Rainier
The C-team played Mt Rainier at home this week and came out on top with a 22-20 victory. Mt Rainier was able to strike first taking a 6-0 lead but Kentwood was able to respond with 16 unanswered first half points to take 16-6 halftime lead. The scoring was led by a Church to Kagawa 30-yard TD pass followed by a Church 2-point conversion run. Special teams then got involved in the scoring when Dominic Kremer blocked a punt that went out of the end zone for a safety. First half scoring was capped off by a 9 yard Church TD run. In the second half Church found Kagawa again for a 9 yard TD strike. The defense made several plays throughout the game including several tackles from our LB core of Espinoza, Gerber, Church, Kagawa and Kremer as they slowed down the Mt. Rainier running attack. The defense faced adversity at the end of the game as Mt. Rainier had a chance to tie it up with a 2-point conversion that was stuffed on the goal line to end the game and preserve the Conks victory. We look forward to our last home game of the season next week as we take on rival Kent-Meridian.
